Why is CFEEA with Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge a Priority Program for Net Impact Orlando?

This is the first true, Central Florida community-wide Alliance focused on sustainability.  The energy use reduction of 30% by 2012 is a stretch goal, but doable with existing technologies and the most critical aspect of becoming more sustainable.  The underpinning of CFEEA’s first Challenge, the Kilowatt Crackdown, using the EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio is brilliant because it gives businesses and institutions a straightforward, no cost way to measure, baseline, benchmark, track, and manage their energy and water use online.  Businesses and institutions need a simple path to begin the sustainability journey.

Not only can Net Impact Orlando broaden membership in CFEEA, but it can engage employees in CFEEA and the Challenge.  The best way to have impact on accelerating sustainability in Central Florida is to have a doable project that can inspire an employee to work the project with support from Net Impact Orlando whether in education, providing interns, coaching, high level presentations/proposals, etc.

The value to adding more CFEEA members is truly get the Alliance broadened to all of Central Florida for regional momentum and to get more ‘feet on the street’ to work the Challenge(s), i.e., demonstrate the value for a CFEEA member to involve its members/employees to get buildings signed up to take the Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge.
