Ray Anderson on Responsibility

Ray Anderson is the Chairman of Interface Inc, the largest manufacturer of commercial and residential modular carpet in the world. When confronted by customers concerned with the environmental impact of his products, he found he simply did not know how his company impacted the environment.
After reading Paul Hawken's book The Ecology of Commerce and learning how much waste was involved in producing one pound of carpet, Ray Anderson felt like he had a spear into his chest.  He now saw business, industry, as plunderers of the world’s natural resources when only10% of the resources used to make a product, service, building ends up in the final output.  As a result, Ray Anderson and his company began the climb of Mount Sustainability with incredible results since 1994. Eco Factory and Net Impact Orlando will release a new interview with Ray Anderson in late October.  Come back for more inspiration from this industrial sustainability pioneer.Ray is one of our heroes.
