Net Impact Orlando Becomes Founding Member of Central Florida Energy Efficiency Alliance (CFEEA)
Date/Time:
Mon, 2009-10-12 (All day) - Net Impact Orlando made the commitments required to become a founding member of Central Florida Energy Efficiency Alliance (CFEEA). CFEEA is an alliance across governments, schools, associations, and utilities aimed at radically accelerating Central Florida sustainability to conserve energy and natural resources in all Central Florida sectors particularly focused on the efficiency of our buildings. CFEEA’s first challenge, The Central Florida Kilowatt Crackdown Community Challenge, Kilowatt Crackdown, is to reduce Central Florida energy use 30% by 2012. Net Impact Orlando enthusiastically supports this aggressive goal. Net Impact Orlando looks forward to immediately helping CFEEA and its members build the groundswell across governments, schools, and businesses to achieve this energy use reduction.
- The president of Net Impact Orlando stated “I am excited by the order of magnitude of the CFEEA first goal. It is about time we had a goal that is more in line with what we need to do as a community. It is terrific to be in a room with utility leaders, e.g., Progress Energy and OUC, government leaders, e.g., Orange County and City of Orlando, school leaders, e.g., UCF, and the many association leaders already engaged in taking CFEEA and the Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge to the Community. Just some of the associations involved are BOMA Orlando, USGBC Central Florida, AIA, ASHRAE, IFMA, FGBC, etc. all focused on reducing our energy use significantly. With this kind of initial involvement and the expectation CFEEA will engage every municipality/community in Central Florida, I am confident we can more than meet the first goal, we can accelerate sustainability progress across Central Florida substantially.”
