Net Impact Orlando Announces Its Web site, www.NetImpactOrlando.org!
Date/Time:
Mon, 2009-11-02 (All day) Net Impact Orlando is proud to announce that its Web site, www.netimpactorlando.org, is live and developing. Very basic current content will rapidly expand with new features, new content, etc. We are particularly excited about content in development that will begin to come up in November, 2009:
Local Sustainability Action Examples (LSAE)—Central Florida
These brief case studies provide local examples of companies taking sustainability action and the sustainability-enablers (sustainability-related suppliers, contractors, vendors, consultants) helping to make it happen. These ‘recipes’ are aimed at inspiring employees for action in their own companies with access to the companies and sustainability-enablers we are proud to highlight. We also hope to dispel the myth that sustainability costs more or has a very long return.
Central Florida Key Business Sector, Sustainability Best Practice Summaries
Many people complain that there is not enough information for them to act on sustainability. It seems more that there is too much information to zero in on what an employee or business can do immediately. Central Florida has very distinct and concentrated business sectors. Net Impact Orlando members are synthesizing their business sector expertise, their sustainability expertise, and the many sources for best practices for sustainability progress for that sector. Most of this work is not original, but rather a synthesis of the mountains of sustainability best practice and learning available.
Best Project Recommendations for Employees
Our members are assembling the top 5 or so projects an employee can take on in their company with a high level why this project and how to work the project. The number one project Net Impact Orlando recommends for an employee is to focus on improving energy efficiency in the building where they work. Central Florida buildings contribute over 30% to green house gas emissions. The first step is measuring the buildings energy use. With the help of the EPA’s free tool, Energy Star Portfolio Manager, any employee can help their employer benchmark a building’s energy efficiency. Improving energy efficiency begins with measuring energy use and almost always results in easy, no cost changes that result in immediate savings. In this economy, using Energy Star Portfolio Manager is an easy top priority.
Look for a lot more as the Chapter and its Web site grows and develops. Any questions or input, please email dcdeland@att.net.
